Batman, Legos, and Batman Legos!

Just about every little boy at some point in time LOVES legos and LOVES Batman.  You can't go wrong with either for boys.  So even better to create these ideas into sweet treats for the kids!

For little Justin's birthday, he requested Batman cupcakes...but not just any ole Batman cupcakes....BLUE cupcakes!  Nope, not blue icing - BLUE cupcakes.  I figured, hey, why not?!   So we gave it a shot and it was a success.  It's hard to see in the picture below, but they are definitely blue.  I can already see for my boys' birthday, we are going to have to do some blue and some green cupcakes.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!!

And yes, before I mentioned Batman and Legos - so here is the connection.  Apparently, there is an awesome Wii game out - Lego Batman.  And for one little boy, Lego Joker is an even better choice.  These were for a special little kid, William, with a special family.  I used to watch his older brother Thomas and every once in a while, I'd watch William and "little" Jack Jack....too bad Jack is 7.    So much fun getting to see part of the family when I went to drop these off.  I'm still in awe that it's been 5 years since I watched these kids!  Ok, so enough reminiscing...I know you just want to see the cakes and cookies!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM!!

And last, but certainly not least, just the regular ole' Lego.  My kids wanted to dig into these once I'd finished them!

Happy 4th of July!!

As I'm typing this, the temperature outside is a "mild" 96 degrees....yes, this is MILD compared to the last few days of temps in the 100s.  Even though the heat out is just about unbearable, we will still be out sitting and watching the Indian Trail parade tomorrow - one tradition that we started that the boys love!  For a small town, this is a pretty neat parade.

To celebrate the 4th, I did have a couple of cookie orders to fulfill.  Here are the cookies that I did for the orders - a BIG variety of red, white and blue designs - only 2 cookies looked exactly the same!

I hope everyone has a great 4th and stays as cool as can be!

Girls ONLY!

With having only boys at home, I rarely get to experience girly stuff.  Yes, my life is filled with trains, cars, anything blue or green, pirates, and trains...oh wait, did I already mention that one?
When I have the opportunity to buy anything for girls, I enjoy every second of hanging out in the girls aisles of stores.
Thankfully when it comes to cookies, I have the chance to channel my inner little girl all of the time!  Check out some of my latest creations!

Tiaras galore!  In need of a cookie idea for a princess?  Here you go - I can also do these in the shape of a tiara.

Hello Kitty - once again, didn't realize just how popular this little kitty was!  I've done at least 5 or 6 Hello Kitty orders in the last 6 months - cupcakes and cookies.  These were made for a super sweet little girl that was turning 5 - Happy Birthday Izzy!

What a neat idea for a little girls' party - a puppy party!  Dog bones and #4 cookies were perfect cookies for this theme.  Happy 4th Birthday Addison!!

This party was held at the Extreme Ice Center here in Indian Trail - a great place for a birthday party!  These cookies were made with an ice skate on top and even a little coarse sugar used as "ice" around the bottom of the ice skates.

Another special occasion for a little girl - a baptism!  These cookies were made for a precious little girl named Kaitlyn.  Kaitlyn's mommy is a friend of mine through CMOMs and has 4 precious little girls (the oldest being the twins).  Congratulations Strain family on Kaitlyn's baptism and Sophie and Caroline on their First Communion!

And these treats were actually made for this weekend.  These were to celebrate the 2nd birthday of Kendall and Katie - a friend of mine's twin girls.  Some cupcakes were pink with white flowers and the others were little blonde girls with Kendall and Katie's names on them (and one for the big sister Emily too).  And of course #2 cookies to go along with it all.  Happy Birthday girls!!

Cartoon Central

As I sit here looking through my picture files of cookies that I've done in the past, I realize just how many cartoon characters I've created in the cookie form!  And this proves, that if you have an idea for a cookie in mind, I can typically figure something out.

These were done for a friend's twins' birthday.  Pikachu and cupcakes to go with them that are pokeballs.  Yep, I'd never heard of them before I did them either.  But what a cute combo huh?  Happy birthday again Jenna & Nathan!

The world of transformers - who knew they were so popular?  We still haven't gotten to them with my boys yet, but I'm sure my time will come before too long!

Spongebob anyone?  I was excited with how these turned out!  Spongebob cupcakes to eat at the party - and cookies to send home as favors!

Man, the amount of time I spent playing Super Mario Brothers as a kid.....
I was so happy with how these turned out!

Disney anyone?  These were done for a super special set of boy/girl/girl triplets.  They were just arriving home from their birthday trip to Disney world.  Each child chose their own special birthday treat.  One chose Minnie cookies, one chose chocolate Mickey cupcakes, and the other chose Minnie rice krispy treat cupcakes!  What cool ideas these kiddos had!  Happy Birthday Alexander, Samantha, and Isabella!

And last, but certainly not least, Rapunzel birthday treats.  These were actually an idea that I found online and just loved!  These cupcakes are topped with an ice cream cone and decorated like the tower with Rapunzel's hair coming out of the window.  Yes, a TON of icing, but super fun!  Happy Birthday Lydia!!!

Love Is In The Air!

The wedding season is on the horizon!
The most popular wedding months this year are predicted to be:
1. June
2. August
3. May
4. July
5. September

Why not send your guests away with a special cookie designed to go along with the colors/theme of your party?!  This could be for a shower or at the actual wedding itself.  Here are a couple of ideas for cookies -

These were for a wedding shower with a beach theme.  I was given the colors blue and yellow to go with to decorate.  These are also mini cookies - these cookies are about 2 inches across - instead of the typical 3 1/2 - 4 inch cookies.  Mini cookies are perfect for a party where you want to serve these as a dessert or snack.

Another wedding idea are these super cute bride & groom cookies.  Again, these are mini cookies and were put together on a platter for a shower.  Such a cute idea for a party!  A larger version of this would be perfect to give away as a wedding favor after the reception.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

What a wonderful holiday!  Only day where you can eat all of the chips and salsa you want - and drink as many margaritas as you can handle!  I say this as I sit at my mom's house for the weekend FINALLY taking a moment to relax a little.  I'm not sure there is a margarita in my future today, but for one lucky person, she gets a Cinco De Mayo themed surprise party today!  How cool!

Here are the cookies I created for the dessert for the party -
(and please note the coarse sugar used as "salt" around the rim of the glasses - cute touch huh?!)

And speaking of birthdays, what a neat gift idea!  It is the gift that keeps on giving - you can order a box including 6 cookies AND a gift certificate so the recipient can order cookies again later!
And the best part - a $25 gift card/box of 6 cookies - only costs you $25 (so in all reality, you can buy a gift card for a friend - and keep the box of 6 cookies for yourself as a free gift if you want!).

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO EVERYONE!

Don't Forget the Teacher!

Teacher Appreciation week is coming up soon (unless it has already passed)!!  I know when I was teaching, Teacher Appreciation week was always fun.  It was so sweet to see the kids come in with special presents for us teachers - not only were we excited to get a small token of appreciation, but the kids loved it just as much.  They loved to see what we were getting - and loved the feeling of handing us some sort of little gift.
Typically, the things I got as a teacher were stuffed animals, fresh fruit (aka a banana that had been sitting at the bottom of the bookbag all morning), coffee mugs, and here and there, a gift card to Starbucks or a favorite store.
Here are a few "sweet" things that I have done recently for teacher appreciation gifts-

A flower pot filled with flower shaped cookie pops - These pots were painted by the children.  They each put their handprints around the sides and wrote their names on top of their prints.  So cute!  Another option for this is that I can paint these as well and personalize them with the teacher's name, etc.

Another item that I did this week was for a preschool director - just another option of something to give to a teacher.  And what you may not realize from the picture, is that this is a JUMBO cookie.  This cookie is 6 inches around (double what they usually are).

And last, this was a cookie platter (created for a teacher appreciation breakfast).  These are MINI cookies - these are about 1/2 the size of my normal cookies.

And to see some that I did last year, take a look here - http://creativecookies.blogspot.com/search/label/Teachers

LOTS and LOTS of options!  And as always, if you have an idea for something unique that I don't have pictured, please let me know and I will see what I can do.
If you want to order a teacher gift, get your orders in soon!  I am filling up for the next couple of weeks - and I will not be taking anymore orders for the weekend of May 18-20th.
