Batman, Legos, and Batman Legos!

Just about every little boy at some point in time LOVES legos and LOVES Batman.  You can't go wrong with either for boys.  So even better to create these ideas into sweet treats for the kids!

For little Justin's birthday, he requested Batman cupcakes...but not just any ole Batman cupcakes....BLUE cupcakes!  Nope, not blue icing - BLUE cupcakes.  I figured, hey, why not?!   So we gave it a shot and it was a success.  It's hard to see in the picture below, but they are definitely blue.  I can already see for my boys' birthday, we are going to have to do some blue and some green cupcakes.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!!

And yes, before I mentioned Batman and Legos - so here is the connection.  Apparently, there is an awesome Wii game out - Lego Batman.  And for one little boy, Lego Joker is an even better choice.  These were for a special little kid, William, with a special family.  I used to watch his older brother Thomas and every once in a while, I'd watch William and "little" Jack Jack....too bad Jack is 7.    So much fun getting to see part of the family when I went to drop these off.  I'm still in awe that it's been 5 years since I watched these kids!  Ok, so enough reminiscing...I know you just want to see the cakes and cookies!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM!!

And last, but certainly not least, just the regular ole' Lego.  My kids wanted to dig into these once I'd finished them!

Happy Birthday Landon!!

Now Landon LOVES the movie Cars!  So much, that I just realized that I've done Cars cookies for him for the past 2 years.  Last year was Lightning McQueen, this year, Mater and Finn.  There were some other contenders for this years' cookies, but these were the ones that made the cut.
One other thing that came up was that I happened to be booked already for the date that Landon's mommy needed cookies - so she took these home a week early, froze them, and took them out to thaw the night before she delivered them to Landon's preschool class.  This is another option when ordering cookies!  I've had a bunch of people order cookies to be frozen - so that the can be eaten later.  And I've gotten feedback from many people saying that they think they taste JUST as good!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANDON!!

And here are last years' Lightning cookies!

Welcome the Family Home!

As new parents (or even just adding a new baby), transitioning from being in the hospital to coming home is a tough time.  At the hospital, your food is provided, you are taken care of, your new baby is taken care of every second of the day, etc.  But when it's time to come home, you have to get used to the household stuff again.  I know that when I was in the hospital after having my babies, I came home and was VERY lucky that I had friends and family to bring me food and help take care of me and the new babies.  One thing that I received was a box of iced cookies from my Aunt Anita and Uncle Jeff.  What a marvelous thing!  You have cookies to eat, give away as a "thank you" to everyone that has come by to help or visit, and you have a nice sweet snack in the middle of the night (when you are up 20 times...).
A friend of mine ordered these cookies as a welcome home for one of her neighbors - and it totally reminded me of those awesome cookies from my aunt and uncle as well.  What a great reason to order cookies for someone!

Bumblebees For Tristan

Well, maybe this isn't the "typical" kind of Bumblebee!  This is a TRANSFORMER Bumblebee!  This is one of those requests I was a little baffled by again.  My children are still so obsessed with trains that I had no clue what a Transformer Bumblebee was!  But after a little research - I got it taken care of.  These were for a little boy named Tristan that is just a super sweet kid.  No wonder because his mom is one of the nicest people ever!  I'm so glad she liked them and I hope Tristan was excited about them too!

HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY TRISTAN!!

Emily & Yoda...A Match Made in Heaven...

Or not really...just had a ring to it!  One of my neighbors has 4 sons (phew)....2 of which have birthdays within weeks of each other.  I did her boys' birthday cookies last year - and I was excited when she came back this year to order more.  Last year, she needed cookies and for some reason, I was out of town for that week.  Our solution was to freeze the cookies!  At that point, I wasn't sure if it would work or not - I'd never tried it.  I tried doing one cookie here at my house and my personal taste tester (aka my Husband) promised me that it tasted just the same as a fresh one.  So Beth became my guinea pig.  She ordered cookies, froze them, and then pulled them out the night before (or morning of) the party.  She too said that she thought they tasted just as good.  SUCCESS!

It's always neat to see what her son Carter may come up with for an idea - last year, Boba Fett.  My first reaction was WHO???  But I tried it and thankfully, it looked close enough that Carter knew who it was!  This year, his first idea was a the Transformer Bumblebee, but he decided to change his mind and go for Yoda.  Well at least this time I knew who Yoda was!  I was so happy to see Carter's reaction when I dropped off the cookies.  He seemed thrilled and immediately asked if he could have a cookie....at 9pm...

Landon is a little man that has the exact same interests as my boys - TRAINS!  Last year, he had Thomas cookies - this year, Emily the train cookies.  It's so nice having tons of trains around the house to look at when I'm trying to see the details on the trains.  When I finished these, I asked my little Whit, "Who is this?"  His reply was that it looked "kind of" like Emily.....that scared me a little....since usually he is pretty good at guessing the cookie designs.  He proceeded to tell me that Emily the train has a coal car....and the cookies didn't.  Details...details...

Reagan's Birthday was a BLAST!

What a cool birthday theme?!!  When Reagan's mom asked me to do cookies for her 7th birthday, I was absolutely thrilled about trying something new.  She sent me a picture of what the cake was going to look like and I tried to make them look as similar as possible.  Below, I've included a picture of the birthday girl blowing out her candles (note - this awesome cake was not one of my creations), and I've included a picture of the cookies.  Great theme for a girl or boy!

As a side note, with this order, I ordered a new cookie cutter.  When it arrived, I was a little bummed about how small it was!  I typically try to make sure all of my cookies are around the same size - so that just wasn't going to do!  So, what do you do in a pinch, you make your own template.  I actually ended up cutting each cookie out by hand.  I know, I know....sounds a bit excessive but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff - and if I want them a certain way, I will do whatever I need to!

HAPPY 7th BIRTHDAY REAGAN!!

Happy Birthday Jacob!

I saw a request on one of my favorite mommy sites, Union County Mommies, for a last minute cake order.  As I can imagine, birthdays right after the holidays come up quick.  But this mommy also had some SUPER sick kids in the past week or two and she just had to put birthday stuff on the back burner.  Well her son requested a blue Lego birthday cake....for the next day.  I'm not sure of many places that could pull that off very quickly.  When I saw it though, I thought - 1. It's a mommy who needs help and I can totally understand why she needed it so last minute and 2. Why not give it a shot - I'm always trying to test my skills - and really, I haven't done many cakes out of my home.
Here's how it came out!

Happy 4th Birthday Evan!!

Evan is one of our neighbors and buddies with my boys too.  He celebrated his 4th birthday (which is actually today) last Saturday.  He had a super fun firetruck birthday party.  The kids got to run around and play and get a special tour of a Rescue Firetruck - a little different from the typical firetruck but neat to see the different things it had on it.  And I was totally impressed by all of the gluten free food that Jill served!  YUMMY!  And of course the party favor was some super yummy firetruck cookies.  Happy Birthday Evan!!!  Thanks for letting us celebrate your special day with you!

Happy 5th Birthday Kendall and Jacob!!

Ok, so technically, they don't turn 5 until Friday but I'm so happy that I got to see these 2 super special kids on the day of their big parties!!
Just a little info about this special family - Kendall and Jacob's mommy has been such a big part in keeping me sane through my children's childhood thus far.  She called me each and every week before my boys were born and the same after they were born - just to make sure I was ok and to tell me how great of a mommy I was.  I just can't thank her enough for how wonderful she has been to me!
For Kendall and Jacob's birthday this year, she had a big challenge!  5 year old boys and girls just want totally different stuff!  So Jacob had a super fun magician birthday party and Kendall got to have a very "princessy" mani & pedi spa party.  My job was to create their birthday goodies.  We did cupcakes for Jacob and a cake for Kendall.
I'm so glad they had such a special day!!  Happy 5th Birthday!!

And just in case you missed their birthday cake from last year, I'll post that too!  Last year, for their birthday, they got to take a trip to ride the Polar Express train.

Transformers

Wow...I definitely realized that my boys must live in a very "Thomas the Tank" kind of bubble.  I had NO CLUE what Transformers looked like until I started looking for pictures.  Once again, this is something I'm sure my children will get into some day.  At least I have practice now!  Kristine, I hope you had a fabulous party for your sweet little 5 year old!

Under the Sea - Mermaids and Sharks

I was so excited about how these came out!  I was a little scared as I searched for cookie cutters for this order. All of the mermaids out there are a little "grown up" and I was trying to find something for a 3 year old!  If all else fails, design your own!  :)  These were for a double party - 5 year old boy and 3 year old girl.  And they were PRECIOUS and so excited about their cookies!

Baby Boys Galore

Is it just me or are there lots of baby boys being born (or coming into the world soon)?  Here are cookies for another fabulous baby shower.  Kristine sent me a copy of the invitation, which is a great tip for anyone ordering cookies to go along with a theme.  If you have already printed invitations and would like for your cookies to match, just send me a pdf of the invite OR get an invitation to me, and I'll be happy to match it (and this also helps me to match colors).
Congratulations to the DeJong family and baby Lucas that will be arriving soon!

Baby Drew is here!

Corey is a fellow Union County Mommy and was looking for something to give people as they visited after the baby was born.  Cookies are a GREAT idea!  So we waited....and waited...and waited for Baby Drew to make his arrival.  Corey had it all planned out - down to getting me a pdf of the tag she wanted attached to the cookies.  I am amazed at her planning abilities!  So when Corey came home from the hospital, I stopped by that evening to deliver her cookies.  Congrats Corey!

Fireworks, Sleepovers, and Monster Trucks - Oh my!

And the MVP (or customer) award goes to Nancy!  One thing I love about Nancy is that she gives me a challenge and lets me run with it.  She gives me an idea and every time I say "well, I've never done that before but I am happy to give it a shot."  And sure enough, I do it and she keeps coming back :)  The teacher cookies in the last post were actually for her too!
For her daughter's birthday, they had a sleepover - so of course I made sleepover cookies!  I mixed up the designs on the sleeping bags and made each girl one with blonde hair and one with brown hair.  And each sleeping bag had the girls' names on them.  I'm sure those girls had a blast at that party (and I'm sure Nancy didn't get a bit of sleep) :)  Oh, and don't let me forget, her birthday is around July 4th, so I made a few firework cookies for the rest of the family to eat too!

And the latest challenge was a monster truck birthday party.  Who knew that they made monster truck cookie cutters??????  Well, they do!  In our house, we haven't gotten into the monster trucks yet (but I'm sure it's coming).  So when I heard that her son's favorite was Grave Digger, I said WHO?????  Thanks to google, I ended up with more pictures of Grave Digger than I could ever want.  And here is the finished product!

Connor's Spiderman Party!

If there's one kid that loves his superheroes, its Connor!  This weekend he celebrated his 5th birthday with an awesome Spiderman theme.  I know he had a great time bouncing around with his friends at Extreme Play.  Here are the Spiderman cookies that he gave as favors to his friends!  Happy Birthday Connor!!!

Minnie & Mickey Cookie Pops!

I was asked to do cookies for a super special little girl's 4th birthday.  And what better cookies to have than Mickey and Minnie cookie pops?!  All of the Minnie's had a red bow made from fondant and were all tied with red polka dot ribbon.  The best part of doing cookies is when the birthday girl (or boy) sees the cookies and their little faces light up!  I was so happy to be able to meet the special little birthday girl!

Happy 1st Birthday Wilson!

Wow!  I really can't believe that it's been a year already!!  When I heard Libby's theme idea, a teddy bear picnic, I thought it sounded SO cute!  Perfect idea for a summertime birthday party.  Her invitations were precious with a sweet picture of little Wilson with a BIG teddy bear (larger than him!), and his special birthday shirt.  It was absolutely cuter than I can even try to describe.  I was so excited to do little teddy bear cookies for his party.  Then Libby asked if I would be willing to do a cake.  I have done a total of 2 cakes out of my home so I was a little apprehensive.  But I LOVE decorating and thought, hey, why not give it a shot!  And Libby trusts me and knows that I will make it as cute as possible.  :)  So here they are!

Congratulations ITAA 6U All Stars!

I'm was honored to be able to do cookies to help the ITAA 6U All Stars celebrate their big win.  They did such a great job this year and were the 2011 State Champs.  Congrats guys!  I know your parents are so proud of you!  I hope you boys enjoyed the cookies too :)

Happy 2nd Birthday Whit & Parker!

If anyone knows my kids, you know they are obsessed with trains!  From the time they were probably a year-18months, they were in LOVE with trains, especially the Thomas collection.  We have more trains in our house than I can count - but trust me, if one Thomas is missing, they will know (even though we have 4 of them)!  So naturally, for their 2nd birthday, we did a Thomas the tank theme.  And when I do a party, I jump in with both feet.  There was Thomas stuff everywhere - their outfits, cake, cookies, favor bags, decorations, everything!  Here are their cookies and the cake....the important stuff :)  And now, at 3, they are still in love with trains.  We have spent a small fortune in trains but at least their love for them has lasted this long!

And So It Begins...

Well I took a BIG break from any sort of icing, cakes, etc starting at the end of my pregnancy with the boys.  I mean heck, I could barely stand up without getting tired.  And life got kind of crazy after they were born, imagine that huh?!  I was sooo excited for their first birthday that I planned WAY in advance!  I settled on the monkey theme - I mean I do have 2 little monkeys so the theme just fit.  I figured, hey, why not do some cookies to give out as favors at the party for all of the guests.  It would give me a fun "project" to work on for their party without having to put too much effort into it.  And that is how I got back into decorating.  I did do their cake also but I left the baking and making icing up to Edible Art.  I was so lucky to have that place to come back to!  Here is a picture of their cookies!  Wow...and to think....they are ALREADY 3!!!!  Phew, time flies!
